Climate Change Communications & Design

I had the good fortune to manage all communications and materials for the Inter American Development Bank’s Climate Change and Sustainability Division for the two years preceding COP21 and the signage of the Paris accord.

Communicated strategic goals across all the division’s platforms—including the blog, social media accounts, mailing lists, publications, and events. I actively ensured messages were consistent with the overall brand and met company standards, drafting talking points for key international events, alternately editing and ghostwriting blog posts. I also monitored, tracked and analyzed the division’s social media presence with support from the external relations department. During my time at the division, the mailing list grew 6 times its subscriber base. On the last month on the job, the blog received a record of 53,081 pageviews, with an average of 2.53 pages per session for 16,398 users. As of June 2018, the blog still used the same design and structure I implemented.

Graphic Design

Translated goals into actionable design solutions and executed design concepts from publications and shareable infographics, to events presentations, signage and collaterals—orchestrating the work of any external production professionals, when necessary.

Partnered with a popular app (Quiz-Up) and launched a tri-lingual climate change and sustainability quiz for the COP20 meeting in Lima, Peru—inviting the whole community to join and compete real-time against IDB climate change specialists.

the Blog

My large first project within the division was to re-design and re-structure the blog, using Wordpress. Following the re-design, I actively ensured messages were consistent with the overall brand and met company standards, editing and ghostwriting blog posts and creating weekly graphics for the posts. The reader base increased by over 200%, and individual posts frequently ranked among the top 3 most viewed out of all the organization’s 20 blogs.
